Britain today is made up of a variety of cultures, religions and ethnic backgrounds. It is imperative that organisations understand and appreciate cultural differences as this promotes clearer communication, breaks down barriers, builds trust, strengthens relationships, and leads to better performance and better service delivery.

This full day course aims to create awareness and understanding of diverse cultures and beliefs. It will enable delegates to explore how cultures and beliefs are manifested in a number of situations, whether at work, in public places, at schools, at home etc., and the relevance of these on diverse communities. The course is suited particularly for people in organisations that are working with or deliver services to diverse communities and individuals in the public, private or voluntary and community sectors.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Explain the factors that influence culture, value and attitude
  • Understand cultural values how they influence behaviour
  • Understanding how culture impacts on organisational practices and service provision  
  • Develop knowledge and skills to manage, motivate and lead a multicultural team
  • Develop knowledge and skills to be effective, efficient and fair in the provision of services to communities with different cultural backgrounds  
  • Be culturally competent and operate in a multicultural environment
  • Establish and improve relationship inside and outside of an organisation  
  • Develop and implement a culture of inclusiveness in an organisation
